Impressive hikes amongst the lakes, glaciers and peaks of British
Columbia and Alberta
The beautiful Canadian Rockies represent a small but magnificent
part of the vast chain that runs virtually the whole length of the
North American continent. Many of the scenic areas have been designated
national parks and this trip visits the most famous and spectacular
of these. The extensive network of trails through these parks allows
quick, if sometimes strenuous, access into some superb high mountain
and glacial scenery, with the added bonus of a multitude of alpine
flowers as well as wildlife such as eagles, deer, moose and bear.
Itinerary
Day 1 Fly to Calgary.
Day 2 Drive to Lake Louise and short hike at Moraine Lake.
Day 3 - 5 Based at Lake Louise: walking in Yoho and Banff N.Ps.
Day 6 Along the spectacular Columbia Icefields Parkway to Jasper.
Day 7 Hike at Cavell Meadows.
Day 8 Walking at Maligne Lake and Bald Hills.
Day 9 Return along the Icefield Parkway, sightseeing in Banff and
to Kananaskis.
Day 10 Walk to the summit of Mt. Indefatigable.
Day 11 Drive to Waterton, half-day hike to Bertha Lake or optional
horseriding. Day 12 - 13 Hikes to Crypt Lake and Carthew Pass at
Waterton Lakes N.P.
Day 14 Visit Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump and return to Calgary.
Depart.
Day 15 Arrive London.
