MOROCCO ATLAS TREK
Day 1 : Arrival to Marrakech
Marrakesh is the jewel of the south, one of the four Imperial cities
of Morocco, and an important cultural and commercial centre, set
at the foot of the High Atlas mountains.
It is a city of vibrancy and solemnity, souk and square, palace
and riad, mosque and garden; a city wrapped in faded red, ochre
walls, and dominated by the Koutoubia mosque, visible from throughout
the city.
Day 2 : Marrakech .Trekking in Ourika
Ourika Valley - Valley of Flushing Water - an attractive string
of villages along the river carrying the same name. The landscape
is fresh and green.
Day 3 : Marrakech / Zagora
Zagora is an oasis town in the Draa Valley on the edge of the Sahara,
the world's largest desert. In former times, this was a departure
point for camel caravans heading for Timbuktu in northern Mali,
a journey that took 52 days.
Day 4 : Zagora / Ouarzazate. Trekking in
Daraa Valley.
Ouarzazate located at an altitude of 1160 metres/3,806 feet in the
middle of an arid plateau, was built by the French as a garrison
in the late 1920's. The town is renowned for its pottery and carpets.
Day 5 : Ouarzazate. Trekking in Ouarzazate
Day 6 : Ouarzazate / Taroudant
Taroudant is noted for its local crafts and you can pick up some
nice bargains here. Vast ramparts surround this Berber market town
that was once the most important trading centre south of Marrakech
and is still the largest town in the fertile Sousse Valley.
Day 7 : Taroudant. Trekking in Taroudant.
Day 8 : Taroudant / Marrakech
Day 9 : Marrakech
Day 10 : Transfer to Marrakech airport.
