DAY 1 (Friday)
LIMA
Arrival in Lima, free day to roam around the city or take optional tours. You will be transferred to your hotel. Meals on your own.
DAY 2 (Saturday)
LIMA / CUSCO
Transfer early to the airport for your 55 minute flight to Cusco, morning free to acclimatize. Afternoon tour of the city and surrounding ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko and Tambomachay returning to your hotel in the evening - lunch and dinner on your own.
DAY 3 (Sunday)
CUSCO / URUBAMBA RIVER / PISAC
Leaving early we will be taken to our put-in point on the Urubamba river. A safety and familiarisation briefing will be followed by a half - day float on this section of the river. After lunch visit Pisac, one of the main archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley with a fantastic view of surroundings. This valley runs from East to West for a good part of the way and is strewn with archaeological remains of Inca and Pre-Inca origin - extensive terracing, villages, fortresses and outposts with vestiges of agricultural activity, making it a unique experience. Evening arrival at your hotel, dinner on your own.
(River: 3 hours. Tours: 3 hours.)
DAY 4 (Monday)
URUBAMBA RIVER / OLLANTAYTAMBO
We proceed early to another section of the river depending on water conditions to end our half day float in the vicinity of the citadel and fortress of Ollantaytambo. If this is not possible due to water levels we will undertake a hike to visit a more remote site near the Sacred Valley - Maras, Moray, Pumamarca or Huilloc. Lunch will be provided, return for overnight, dinner on your own. (River: 2 hours. Tours: 3 hours.)
DAY 5 (Tuesday)
URUBAMBA VALLEY / MACHU PICCHU
Catching the train in Ollantaytambo the tracks wind their way through an ever-narrowing gorge, entering the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, to finally reach Machu Picchu village from where a bus ride will bring us to the lost citadel of the Incas. An all-day guided excursion with lunch included will end with a transfer to your hotel in town. Overnight at hotel, dinner on your own.
DAY 6 (Wednesday)
MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
The Machu Picchu Sanctuary has many natural attractions due to its status as a protected area and some of these can be experienced on this day - birdlife and plants, such as orchids, bromelids and ferns. An alternative is to roam the ruins on your own (entrance fee not included) or walk through the village and surrounding trails. Afternoon four hour train return to Cusco where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Lunch and dinner on your own.
