ACTIVITY GROUP TRIPS

NANDA DEVI & TRISUL
17 days at £1,519 including flights

Tripcode: TGN

In the footsteps of Shipton and Tilman on a classic journey through the Nanda Devi massif

The Garhwal region is arguably the centrepiece of the Indian Himalaya, dominated by the awe-inspiring Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The area to the west of Nanda Devi is known as the Outer Sanctuary and makes for superb walking country, affording magnificent panoramas of Nanda Devi, Trisul and the Badrinath group. We follow part of the approach route used by the 1936 expedition of Shipton and Tilman, which takes us through remote villages, forests and alpine pastures skirting the edge of the Sanctuary. We traverse the valleys radiating out from Nanda Devi before ascending the Kuari Pass. This is the highlight of the trek, with outstanding views of the Zanskar range and the main Himalaya stretching 100km towards the Tibetan border.
