SMALL GROUP TRIPS
TIMBUKTU & THE DOGONS
16 days from £1,869 to £2,099 including flights
Tripcode: AYD
A genuine adventure to the jewel in West Africa's crown; walking
among the Dogons, market day at Djenne, Timbuktu and the Niger River
by pinasse
Mali offers more highlights than any other country in West Africa.
Its dramatic and varied landscape includes the Niger River, winding
its way through the country and the impressive Bandiagara Escarpment,
home of the Dogon people. This area is best visited on foot. The
walking is moderate but it can be very hot. We also spend two full
days exploring villages by pinasse (local river boat), take an optional
camel ride into the vast Sahara Desert and visit the colonial town
of Segou. To crown it all, we visit the home to the Tuareg, Timbuktu;
a city that has inspired so many travellers throughout the centuries.
