EVEREST TRAILS and CHITWAN

Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries and the highest peaks on
Earth
In the shadow of Everest lies the traditional homeland of the Sherpas,
the renowned mountain people who migrated south from the Tibetan
plateau. We explore the region using colourful village inns, maximising
our contact with the Sherpa people. Our first destination is Namche
Bazaar, the trading capital and main town of the Khumbu region.
Leaving Namche, we follow trails used by many Everest expeditions
to the highlight of the trek, the famous monastery at Thyangboche,
one of the finest mountain viewpoints in the world. Leaving the
mountains we head down to the plains and visit Chitwan National
Park where we hope to see rhino, sloth bear and many other species.
Day 1 Depart London.
Day 2 Arrive Kathmandu.
Day 3 Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu.
Day 5 - 7 Trek through the Sherpa heartland to Namche Bazaar and
the monastery at Thyangboche for superb mountain views including
Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam.
Day 8 Trek to Monzo.
Day 9 Return to Lukla.
Day 10 Fly to Kathmandu.
Day 11 Drive to Chitwan N.P.; afternoon visit to Tharu village.
Day 12 Full day of activities in the park, including elephant safaris,
dug-out canoe rides and jungle walks.
Day 13 Return to Kathmandu.
Day 14 Morning free for last minute sightseeing; afternoon depart.
Day 15 Arrive London.
