From busy Bangkok with its magnificent temples and lively markets,
we head west for some beautiful country and the slower pace of rural
Thailand. We see the Bridge on the River Kwai and a spectacular
waterfall, and visit the ancient Thai capital of Ayuthaya. Then
we head north for a few days exploring Chiang Mai and the hilltribe
country on foot, on elephant back and even by bamboo raft. Finally
we enjoy a well-earned rest on the tropical island of Koh Samet.
Itinerary
Day 1 Depart London.
Day 2 Arrive Bangkok.
Day 3 Tour of Bangkok including the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Afternoon
to Kanchanaburi and a boat ride on the River Kwai.
Day 4 Visit Hellfire Pass and beautiful Erawan Falls. Afternoon
free to relax, swim or to walk to the top of the falls.
Day 5 Journey to Ayuthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand, where
we see the ruins. Overnight train to Chiang Mai.
Day 6 Visit Wat Doi Suthep (temple) and the Tribal Research Institute.
Evening free for shopping in Chang Mai's fantastic night market.
Day 7 Visit to an elephant camp where we can go elephant riding.
Day 8, 9 Head to the hilltribe region for two days discovering this
fascinating area. We enjoy some easy walking, elephant riding and
bamboo rafting. As guests of the Palong hilltribe people we spend
one night in their village before returning to Chiang Mai.
Day 10 Fly to Bangkok and transfer to the tropical island of Koh
Samet.
Day 11, 12 Two full days to relax on the beach, go snorkelling or
enjoy some of the many optional excursions.
Day 13 Morning at leisure before returning to Bangkok.
Day 14 Free day in Bangkok for last minute shopping or relaxation.
Day 15 Fly to London.

The family trips are designed to appeal to
children with lots of varied activities. There are usually
4 - 6 families and they work well for single parents. Many
of the groups have special teenage dates, so please ask
for these.
All prices include air fares from London.
